Capitalistic system is characterized by the free play of market forces demand and supply. Market is critical part of capitalistic system. Following are different forms of market system:

Competitive Market:

  • There are large number of sellers and buyers.
  • There is no selling.
  • Price is determined by the market forces and firms are price takers.
  • Buyer and seller shave perfect information about the market.

Monopoly Market:

  • it is characterized by the single seller only.
  • firm is price maker.
  • entry barriers are higher.

Monopolistic market:

  • More buyers and sellers in market and each firm has differentiated product.
  • selling cost is high.

Oligopoly market:

  • few firms are there in market, from 2 to 10.
  • Competition is very intense and it might cause outcomes identical to competitive market.
  • Products could be differentiated or identical.
