Disorder Identification Read the following 12 case scenarios and 1) decide which disorders are being described AND 2) justify how you arrived at your decision-be detailed here! 1.Nicky has an intense fear of being overweight. Although she loves to cook she hardly eats at all. She also has a distorted body image in which she sees herself as “fat” despite the fact that her physician says she is 20% underweight for her height, age and bone structure. She exercises excessively and still rigidly and obsessively diets despite being 15 pounds lighter than her original dieting goal.

2.Myra was at the bank to cash a paycheck when two armed men held up the bank. Before the ordeal ended with the cops arresting the two burglars, Myra witnessed another customer being shot and killed by the men. Since this tragic event, Myra has been unable to enter a bank. She wakes up often throughout the night with nightmares of being shot. Her administrative position requires her to make the bank deposits for the small company she works for. However, she has been unable to complete this duty.

3.Paul is unresponsive to most social stimuli. He rarely smiles, talks, or makes eye contact with others. He seems indifferent to everyone, including his parents. He engages in solitary, ritualistic behaviors such as constantly flapping his hands. He sometimes goes into sudden tantrums or panics. He also insists on the same familiar food each day

4.Leila was recently involved in a horrifying car accident. She was lucky to emerge from the accident with only minor physical injuries. Nicky is suffering from this disorder, as she consider herself over weight, despite being under weight clearly. She also limits her food intake.

2. Post traumatic stress disorder

Myra is suffering from this disorder, as she gets nightmare and avoids going to bank for her job duties, which is a characteristic of this disorder.

3. Autism

Paul has this disorder, as he has difficulty in social communication, has obsession of same food and does repetitive behaviour of flapping hands.

4. Dissociative amnesia

Leila forgets the event and the memory loss has lasted for few hours. She is unable to recall the information related to the accident and two hours prior it. This is a characteristic of dissociative amnesia.
