I have a lab report due on the chromatography of leaves, and the solvent used was...

I have a lab report due on the chromatography of leaves, and the solvent used was propanone which is a polar value and should give a low Rf, however I got a high Rf (0.70) and am not sure how to explain that on my report.

the Rf value of a particular pure dye or analyte in a particular solvent (or mixture) is constant if the following experimental conditions are kept unaltered:

  1. Temperature
  2. Chromatography medium, ie same type and grade of Chromatography Paper
  3. Solvent concentration and purity
  4. Amount of sample spotted on Chromatography medium

If Rf value is different from expected, then any 1 of above 4 can be reason
