Chromatic aberration is the inability of a lens to focus different colors in exactly the same place. In simple words, when colors are incorrectly refracted by the lens, a color mismatch will result means the colors will not combine in the a way they should. This is when wavelengths of color are focused at different positions in the focal plane.

It affects the sharpness of an image in a way that we get to see some border shades of red, cyan or blue colors where light is not properly focused. Usually, this happens on the edge of an object under focus.
