How does the ultrasound frequency affect the image depth?
The higher the frequency of ultrasound, the more will be attenuation and therefore the depth of tissue/image penetration will be less (because absorption is directly proportional to frequency of ultrasound and therefore more is frequency more will be absorption by tissue and less will be penetration). Therefore high frequency of ultrasound is used to view superficial structure.
Note - High frequency of ultrasound produce high resolution (details) image.

How long does it take, at a minimum, to acquire data for an 3D ultrasound image with a field of view of 10cm3 (10x10x10 cm3) at 1mm resolution in all 3 directions?
Research a common modality that is used in rehabilitation. How does Ultrasound work? NOT the ultrasound that produces an image such as is done to look at a fetus/baby in the womb. What are the common injuries or conditions that Ultrasound is used for? Are there any contraindications that would prevent the use of Ultrasound?
Given an ultrasound scanner with the following characteristics - 5MHz phase array transducer - 16-bit, 20 MHz AD converter - 256 MB image memory (RAM) - Operating mode: B mode acquisition; 3000 transmitted ultrasound pulses per second; image depth 10 cm; number of scan lines 60; sector angle 60º. The ultrasound velocity is 1530 m/s. (a) What is the image frequency (frame rate)? (b) How long does it take to fill the complete image memory with data? (c) How many...

How you think a sonographer (ultrasound technician) will interact with the mammography (xray to image the breast) unit of that department in caring for patients. a) Do you think exams from that department could have any impact on the sonographer performing their exams? Explain. b) How would they have to work together? Explain.
