Discuss three different types of resource constraints one might encounter in a major IT project. Explain how you would go about identifying each constraint.
answer
Resource planning and project research are used to determine the type of resource constraints that are in place. Each constraint can be identified by comparing the type and number of resources available and the required resources as per the resource planning.
The three types of resource constraints one might encounter in an IT project are people, equipment, and funding. This is similar to the constraints that are in place when trying to schedule task in IT projects. In both cases people and cost are a factor, also the impact one consternate has on the other could alter the outcome of the project as well. Most projects have a budget and a team in mind before the equipment is purchased. This is to ensure that the team members are qualified to operate the equipment used to complete the project.
Once roles are established and skill set are identified, equipment can be put in place that will assist in creating the infrastructure for a project. The down side and major constraint that comes with needing equipment is that an IT project can not be successfully completed with out the basic equipment. Which means a project will have to wait until the equipment is available within there company or new equipment well be bought from outside. Having to wait on the equipment from another entity could cause a delay in the project as well. The overall all time of the project will be effected as well as funding, depending on how much it will cost to get the equipment.
As mentioned before funding is always a constraint in IT projects and no matter how good of a cost break down a company does there is always the potential of unforeseen cost and expenses. If one task goes over budget it could affect the overall aspect of the project. Project managers need to ensure there is more than enough money before starting a project, This will insure that all task are finically secure, and there is extra in case a task needs more than what was originally thought.

Three of the most common major types of organizational structure are functional, matrix, and project-oriented. Among the three major structures, there are similarities and differences in where authority resides, who controls the budget, how resources are allocated, and what roles and responsibilities the project manager and project team members assume. Each of these factors has the potential to influence project outcomes. Also, the skills a project manager needs are dependent on the organizational structure under which the project will be...
