Reading: Chapters 16-17Questions:1. Compare the metal doorknob and the wooden door of an unheated outdoor shed on a cold day. Whichis colder? Why does the metal doorknob feel colder?
2. Wood is a better insulator than glass, yet fiberglass is commonly used as an insulator in woodenbuildings. Why?
3. How does the high specific heat of water affect convection currents in the air at the seashore?
4. What is evaporation, and why is it a cooling process? Exactly what is it that cools?
5. Why does blowing over hot soup cool the soup? (Try to give two reasons, one from chapter 16 and onefrom chapter 17.)
2)since trapped air is an example of best insulator and fibre glass trap air more as compared to wood therefore fibreglass is used as an insulator .it is also very cheap and easy to manufacture.
4) the process in which the phase changes from liquid to gaseous phase called evapouration.it is cooling process because molecules loss their energy in coverting from.liquid to gaseous phase and Energy is always proportional to temperature therefore temp. of the molecules decreases.therefore,it is also called as cooling process.
