Answer #1

Indeed, there are readily available tests and examinations in market that shall enable an Organization to select to most appropriate person for a given job. MBTI and FIRO-B are two of the most popular behavioral tests to examine the intellect and attitude of a candidate to meet the job characteristics.

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), coupled with FIRO-B, makes together the best personality assessment methods for the purpose of selection. While MBTI focuses upon the four fundamental elements of our personality to assess our identification and the driving factors that motivate us as individuals, FIRO-B concentrates upon the comprehension of the relationships around us that are interpersonal in nature, thereby displaying what the individuals present to others and in return their expectations from them. FIRO-B helps in examining the motivators in the individuals and thereby helps in the management of such individual’s traits of tensions and fears. FIRO-B generates scores on six different scales based on its 54 item list for assessment by way of self-reporting. Expressions of the behavior by the individuals and the degree of reception of the same behavior from others, is measured by FIRO-B to assess the personality traits of the individuals for selection purpose. When FIRO-B is teamed with MBTI, a comprehensive view of the drivers of interpersonal traits in an individual with that of their relationship concerns, is obtained and therefore can offer the most relevant approach to evaluate an individual’s personality for selection.

Example would be if an individual feels that he is not important to a job profile or maybe he knows he knows he is actually not meant for the same, then the act of putting such an individual to such a profile would be very risky. It will in fact, only reassure such an individual that he is not eligible for such a job. FIRO-B when coupled with MBTI, shall help to understand the areas wherein such individuals are not at the comfort zone and also aid in assessing whether such an individual’s beliefs and behavior could be changed in the favor of the organization, to make the individual accomplish the said job. An overall comprehensive study of the individual’s interpersonal relationships and personality traits through these two assessment methods may thus help the recruiters to select the most suitable candidate for the concerned job.
