My assignment - School leaders face a lack of understanding of the funding mechanisms for schools on the part of many taxpayers.

Question -

1. Can you develop or create a 10 point summary for the taxpayer on how a school is funded?

2. Examples of Junior colleges and universities?

According to the US department of education,the federal government contributes about 8% to funding US public schools.

The local government allocates education funding from the revenue generated by the property tax and other fundraising efforts.

Local property taxes provide most of the funding for public schools and this varies in accordance to the relative affluence of each neighborhood.

The state allocates a percentage of it's revenue for school funding.

Each state varies the level of support that the school receive with the implementation of legislation.

According to the resaerch on equity and adequacy in school funding "much of the current litigation and legislative activity in education funding seeks to assure "adequacy" that is a sufficient level of funding to deliver an adequate education to every student in the state.

Because of income and tax revenue varies so widely form state to state and there is a huge disparity in funding of the public schools.

School funding in the US is overall inequitable.23 states send more funding to the schools all over the country.
