Answer 4(a):

From the above diagram we can see that Asian and Latino Women are measured along the X axis and the Likelihood of marriage is measured along the Y axis. As per the given statement, Asian women in the US are more likely to study in college and more likely to study a science major than Latino women, and the majority of the male students prefer to study science major. In that case,the Asian Women who are more likely to marry the males with science as major subjects, as they too prefer science, hence their married life is expected to receive a larger share of the marital surplus. Here AW represents the Asian women and LW represents the Latino women. OM represents the desire of the men to marry Asian or Latino women. We can see that the OA > OL, therefore, the marital surplus for the Asian women is more than the Latino women.

Answer 4(b): Since the Asian women marry the men who most likely prefer science major subjects and those males who choose the science major subjects earn much more than the other graduates, this means the Asian women will receive a larger share of marital surplus.

Answer 4(c):

From the above diagram we can see that Asian and Latino Women are measured along the X axis and the Likelihood of marriage is measured along the Y axis. As per the given statement, the college graduates, specially the science major graduates do not like to marry those women who earn more than them, in that case, the Latino women who are less likely to study science major, and thereby are most likely to earn lesser, will be more preferred by the science major males. From the graph, we can see that the AW represents the Asian women and LW represents the Latino women. OM represents the desire of the men to marry. We can see that the OL > OA, therefore, the likelihood of marrying the Latino women is higher for the science graduate males.
