Consider sending a file of size 1 Gigabits from a server to a client. The server segments the files into packets of the size 10 megabits. There are 5 routers (6 links) between the client and the server. Assume there is no queuing delay and end-to-end propagation delay is 10 seconds. Compute the total delay for sending this file from server to client. Assuming we are sending the packets back to back and all links have the transmission rate 100 megabits per second.

So the total delay between two nodes or a link is equal to the sum of propagation and transmission delay considering no queuing delay. so when our first packet is on the last link so at that time the next packet will be at previous link so that's why we have only considered delay of 10.1 for 99 packets because packets are coming simultaneously one after another.
