Microcontrollers and embedded systems are used to promote automation or make systems work automatically as per pre set conditions through which we program them . So , modern energy devices at consumer and commercial end like tubelights , AC , Refrigerator and Motors , all can be suitably programmed using sensors and microcontroller based systems to optimise the power usage , so that energy efficient systems can be developed .

Also , on generation end we can use microcontroller to control power generation , so that maximum power generation can be achieved , let's take example of solar power generation , we can use microcontroller to develop Maximum power tracking systems to change direction of Solar power cell absorbers , so that max power generation can be achieved . Similarly , we can use microcontroller to program the fuel supply to generators used in power generation , so that maximum power can be generated and losses can be minimized to promote energy efficiency in Generation end !!
