Describe, in general terms, why an achiral catalyst will inevitably give a 50:50 ratio of enantiomers, while a chiral catalyst can be capable of providing preferential formation of one enantiomer.

An achiral catalyst goes with all the possible transition state and intermediate possible with in the reaction to give enantoenant. While in chiral vatalcat, only the best one transition state, showing more stable intermediate while less stearic hindrance give single product with enantioselectivity.
