Answer #1

Random variable is a 'variable' whose value differes from suject to subject. We get samples of these subjects and they all have some variation in the values.

You must compare the average salary of 15 employees with a master's degree to that of the income of 20 employees with a bachelor's degree.

1. What is the random variable in this scenario?

Here we have to compare the salary of the employees. The salaries are going to be different for people with different degrees and also among the people with the same degree. Therefore 'Salary' is the random variable.

2. What is the function to calculate the statistic?

Since we want to compare the average of the salaries, the function is 'mean'

................where 'x' is the different values of salaries.

You must compare the the time it takes 15 customers at mcdonalds to reach the register to order to that of the time it takes 10 people to order at the electronic kiosk.

1. What is the random variable in this scenario?

Since here the time taken to order will vary individually, 'time taken to order' is the random vairiable.

2. What is the function to calculate the statistic?

Since we want to compare the average of the time taken to order, the function is 'mean'

Lottery Game (15 Numbers). Design and implement a C++ program that generates 15 random non-repeating positive integer numbers from 1 to 999 (lottery numbers) and takes a single input from the user and checks the input against the 15 lottery numbers. The user wins if her/his input matches one of the lottery numbers. Your implementation must have a level of modularity (using functions) Functions you need to implement: Define function initialize() that takes array lotterNumbers[] as a parameter and assigns...

In the last module you learned a formula for calculating bit rate, R = b/t, that is the number of bits divided by the time. This formula expresses the number of bits that are transmitted over a circuit in a given period of time. In practice, however, we are not only concerned with the number bits transmitted, but also with the number of data bits transmitted over a circuit. The data bits are those that the sender decides to send...
