I just read in a textbook that if you add a species that accepts hydrogen ions...

I just read in a textbook that if you add a species that accepts hydrogen ions to pure water, a decrease in hydrogen ion will result, shifting the system toward the products due to Le Chatleliers principle. (for h20 + h20 <—-> H30+ + OH-. My question is, wouldnt addition of a species that accepts hydrogen ions also result in production of an OH- ion for every hydrogen ion that it accepts, shifting the reaction to the left equally as much?
