The two modes in which process operates are user mode and supervisor mode. Supervisor mode is unrestricted mode sometimes also termed as kernel mode whereas User mode is restricted mode.

In user mode memory access is limited and access of peripherals is also restricted so when readfromKeyboard is called an interrupt occurs.

In supervisor it can access peripherals,but if syscal occurs it will be a trap like in the given question.
