Answer #1

The future has always been in a way a projection of past and as we see our past we might realize that the technological advancements and the humanity has always complemented each other.Science and technology is advancing only because of human intellect and thus,as the human advances the science also advances as an outcome. An example of this scenario is that with the scientific advancements the life's of people have become easier. This in turn has increased the spare time with people and eventually the spiritual part of human has increased.

We can conclude that the machines taking over the world is a falsify statement as it is the human intellect which creates the machine and not the other way round. Therefore, with the coming future the potential of humanity and sense of scientific achievements go hand in hand.

Many events in the real world are difficult to predict with absolute precision, yet we can sometimes know the average behavior quite well. For example, a store may know from experience that a customer arrives every five minutes. Of course, that is an average—customers don’t arrive in five-minute intervals. To accurately model customer traffic, you want to take that random fluctuation into account. Now, how can you run such a simulation in the computer? These are the requirements I have...

If a portfolio's investment process remains reasonably stable through time, we can predict that the expected tracking error going forward will be approximately the same as that realized in the past. If the fund's process changes or we do not have much historical data, we need to do a different type of analysis, such as the type done with forward- looking risk tools like one of those provided by Northfield, BARRA, etc. Unfortunately, we cannot predict "alpha" as well. True...
