Answer #1

Mckesson is an American pharmaceutical company providing medical and pharmaceutical supplies. Headquartered in Texas, it is one of the highest revenue generating companies in the US in the health care industry. The primary reason for the enormous success of the company is the vision with which it conducts its business. A detailed explanation can be found below:

1. The mission statement of the pharmaceutical company leaves none behind and includes all the stakeholders i.e. customers, suppliers, partners. The company also emphasizes on the significant role future sustainability play in the longevity of any business. It believes that companies perform exceptionally in a healthy environment. This is the reason Mckesson has opted for eco-efficient operations and focus on efficient use of scarce resources in every area. Some of the ways it anchors for sustainable future are:

  • Using LED lighting in the buildings to reduce the release of harmful gases emitted out by other sources of lighting. In some places it has also started to use renewable energy instead of the usual LED lighting to serve the basic purpose.
  • Proper disposal of waste and keeping a tab on the type and percentage of waste that goes back to the nature in the form of landfills and water.
  • Using Light Combat Vehicles to transport the goods and services as they use less fuel.
  • Ensuring the recycling and reusing of plastic waste.
  • Using smart irrigation facilities to reduce the use of water in the operations. Also, the company claims to use less paper by going digital in its operations.

Apart from the above mentioned steps to ensure sustainability of operations, the pharmaceutical company also tends to lay a great emphasis on its customers. The company very well knows that the customer is the kingpin of the market and in order to grow financially, it needs the support of the target market. The company claims to be committed to its customers and aims at imparting best services for the satisfaction of customer's needs and wants. In my opinion, the mission and vision of the company is effective as while providing cost effective solution to the stakeholders, the company is also fulfilling the social responsibility it has towards the environment.
