So, you just got back from the change control meeting. Guess what?! They’ve added a whole new complex deliverable to the project. The key sponsor said it was necessary (new company initiative she said). The trouble is that’s a whole new set of objectives we’ve never looked at. What do we do now people? Does this actually happen in the real world? Thoughts, ideas, examples

In such situation, when there are high chances of changes then project manager should have analyze the risk before the project start but if such changes occur in between the project then try to adapt with the changes as per the need of the project. for this project manager should prioritize the objectives and deliverables needs to complete first then achieve them and focus on another.

The deliverables like new product or upgrade to project can be achieved by decision to Crash the project in which Project manager can tell sponsor to allocate more resources or pay over time to current team members to complete the project on time.

These changes like adding more complex deliverables are real as life because every project saw changes in start or between like if you have project of making a real estate of eco friendly houses then you know the deliverable in advance but these can changes if customer needs more or different in such houses more high tech tools and equipment which were not decided in start so sponsor has to meet the need of customer. so changes are completely real in the world which can add more new objective to projects.
