Given concentration of chloride ion is 0.240M

1 mole of SnCl4 contains four chloride ions

SnCl4 ---> Sn4+ + 4Cl-

So [SnCl4]=[Cl-]/4 = 0.240M / 4 = 0.060 M

(a) Therefore the molarity of SnCl4 is 0.060M

(b) Molar mass of SnCl4= atomic mass of An+(4*atomic mass of Cl)

= 118.7+4(35.5)

= 260.7 g/mol

Number of moles of SnCl4,n= molarity*volume of solution in L

= 0.060M*200 mL*10^-3 L/mL

= 0.12 moles

So mass of SnCl4,m= number of moles * Molar mass

= 0.12 moles*260.7 g/mol

= 3.128 g
