a)True

Average is the sum of numbers entered on the list divided by total number of values on a list. ie; if we enterd 2 and 6 then average is (2+6)/2 =4

when the sign of entered number changes for example if we enter -2 and -6 , average = [-2+(-6)]/2= -4

Therefore we can say that the statement if you change sign of each entry on the list,that changes the sign of the average is TRUE.

b) False

Standard deviation is the result obtained after squaring the difference of each value and the mean of all the values in the list .Thus we can say that when we change the sign of each entry on list that does not change the sign of deviation. Thus SD always results in a positive value.
