In case of SN​​​​​1​​​​ reaction first leaving group departs and carbocation formed ,Then stable carbocation react with nucleophile (generally solvent in case of Sn1).First step is rate determining step in case of SN​​​​​1​ ,so as soon as leaving group departs reaction will occur at faster rate.Also polar protic solvent favours SN1 reaction so when we use

AgNO​​​3 along with Ethanolin reaction of alkylhalide AgNO​​​3 forms precipitate with halide atoms ,this results in faster loss of leaving group so the net reaction will occur at faster rate. That's why we use AgNO​​​3 in SN​​​​​1 reactions.
