A researcher collected data on 21 snapping turtles in order to predict the age of a snapping turtle (age) from the length of its carapace (length). The simple linear regression model is shown below. Age is measured in years, and carapace length is measured in cm.

age = b0 + b1(length)

If the standard error of the slope is 0.24, what is the minimum value of the slope in order for it to be significant? Round to two decimal places and do not include units.
Given: critical value = 2.093

Answer #1

We have standard error of slope S.E(b1) = 0.24

For critical value tCritical = 2.093

We reject the null hypothesis if t > 2.093

Here t = b1 / S.E(b1)

b1/0.24 > 2.093

b1 = 0.51

So for 0.51 slope is significant .

    Will rate, thank you in advance. A researcher developed a regression model to predict the tear rating of a bag of coffee based on the plate gap in bag-sealing equipment. Data were collected on 32 bags in which the plate gap was varied. An analysis of variance from the regression showed that by = 0.7427 and Son = 0.2396. a. At the 0.05 level of significance, is there evidence of a linear relationship between the plate gap of the bag-sealing...
