Answer #1

Depression in children and adolescents are different from that of adults. It can be seen that children and adolescents manifest depression by lack of interest, delinquency, anger outbursts etc. In addition to this, it can also be misunderstood as an antisocial personality disorder in many cases in the initial period. Adults do not always exhibit violent behaviour or agression when compared to that of children. Children also show daytime sleepiness which is not seen in the case of adults. Hence, a different criteria for depression would be useful for children and adolescents.
