When the whale population in an ocean is decreased, then tina fish number is increased in the ocean. This leads to decreases in squid and Herring. Now the zooplankton increased which will show high consumption of phytoplankton. Hence phytoplankton is decreased. With decrease in number of phytoplankton, the carbon dioxide sequestration is decreased by the phytoplankton. That's why there is found increase in carbon dioxide.
