Motivation indicates the willingness of a person to achieve something or to do any task proficiently. Motivation is equivalent to enthusiasm, and every person needs to gain their results positively. In the business world, motivation has a specific meaning, and it is all about the factors that encourage employees to be committed in their job. In business organizations, managers find several ways to motivate their employees and providing rewards and incentives is one of them. A motivated employee is always happy to pursue their task wholeheartedly. Sometimes, good leaders motivate their employees by influential speeches and advice.
Several motivational theories are available in research articles which are effective in the business cultures. For instance, Maslow's need theory, Herzberg two factor theory, Hawthorne effect, expectancy theory, and three-dimensional theory of attribution. Among these theories, Maslow's need theory and Herzberg two factor theories are widely used in business organizations.
Maslow's motivational theory is based on five levels of human needs. It describes the need for accomplishment of each level hierarchically. Physiological, safety, love/belonging, self-esteem and self-actualization are the five levels which humans need to accomplish in their life to be motivated.
Herzberg two factor theory deals with motivator and hygiene factors and both of these factors aim to motivate individuals effectively. Motivator factor increases the motivation of employees. On the other hand, the absence of hygiene factors dissatisfaction increases.
One of the famous organizations is Facebook, in which their leaders are always motivating employees. This company sets organic structure within the organization, which indicates the flexibility to work. It enhances the employee's innovative skills, and they can provide their best shots for their company. Leaders are enthusiastic and continuously influence their employees through creative ideas.
