You are a genetic engineer working with mice. You figure out how to delete the genes for the dopamine transporter DAT and the GABA transporter GAT specifically in neurons while leaving the genes intact elsewhere. How will Dopaminergic and GABAergic transmission be altered in your mice?

Answer:- As i have deleted DAT gene , dopamine would not reabsorb into synaptic vesicles and therefore it will lead too much dopamine in synaptic cleft . too much dopamine will lead hallucinations, mania and schizophrenia. as GAT gene deleted as well which leds to too much GABA in synaptic cleft which shows inhibitory effect on nervouse system as it is inhibitory neurotransmitter. hence GABA present in synptic cleft will counteract effect of Dopamine and mice should feel stable.
