Social media plays an essential role in politics, government decision, society and bringing a social change. In this 21st era everything is upgraded and technically advanced, and every one is using social media to communicate and to disseminate any important information among general public. Social media give chance to people to interact with their leaders (politicians) and share their concern in comment section. Politicians also take grievances of common people with the help of social media and it helps them to communicate with large number of people from single platform without going anywhere.
Government also take people opinion by conducting surveys and
through vote on internet and social media also keep sharp eyes over
the activities of government. Social media also expose the negative
activities of any government like corruption or misuse of
power.
The social issues can be raise over social media to open the eyes
of government in matter where they are least interested. Law
enforcement agencies also associated with people and society with
the help of social media. This way a massive social change occur in
society with the equal participation of law enforcement, public,
society and government with the help of social media.
According to the C wright mills, the term power elite means that the main power in the hands of dominant elements who are :- military, corporate and political elements. These elements create monopoly in the society and never let anybody to be in the power and remain in power always.
If I talk about United states then I would say the power elite are :- current government (Donald Trump) , media(press), giant companies, bureaucratic and military who have power to control the big institutions and who have too much influence on policies. If we individually talk about these elites then no one is working for sake of general public or society. As corporates are running behind profit and to be on number one position. Government is trying to be emerge like super power in the world and try to be a dictator. Media is running behind TRP and they act like puppet of government. Their is no transparency in media's act.
