Candy bars are well known to supply large amounts of energy for metabolism. With all this energy trapped inside, how can the candy bar sit still on the shelf in the grocery store? How is that energy used to fuel reactions in the body?

First of all the form of energy is important in either cases

In case of the candy, it has carbohydrates in the form of sugars and it when enters the body can be helped to form energy which is helpful to the body

In body, the candy will give away the carbohydrates to the body, which are further metabolized by various reactions to produce energy in the form of ATP which is helpful for the body to fuel reactions
