There is a basic difference between knowing and believing something.
Knowing is just having the knowledge, for example when someone says "I know murder is a bad thing" the person has the knowledge that murder is a bad thing.
At the same time, what that person do with that knowledge is his belief. For example, I know murder is a bad thing, I believe if a bad person is murdered, it is okay.
Hence the statement, "I know murdee is a bad thing" is just a that the person knows so.
