1a) Explain the difference between energy efficiency and energy conservation. Provide an example of each.

1b) Is a ban on incandescent bulbs socially efficient? What about leaving the decision to the market? Explain your answer with words and an appropriate graph.

Energy efficiency	Energy conservation
Energy efficiency related with using of technology that need less energy to perform any task or action. Inverter Ac, smart thermostats and light bulb (Led Bulb) that save energy and reduce the electricity bill for household.	It is kind of practice that guide the behavior of household regarding conservation of energy. Taking an example of Fan, bulb when they are used it consume energy and help in performing required function but turn off the light when it is not in use or when you leave room and house switching off these fan and bulb lead to energy conservation .
It is based on technology efficient equipment that save consumption of energy.	It is based on the habit or behavior of human element whether they want to save energy for society and environment.

Initially a ban on incandescent bulb is not socially efficient until it has alternative option to be replaced with. Incandescent bulb emits more heat and consumes more energy and cause increase in carbon dioxide into environment. We should first develop alternative option like CFL and LED which has already developed in order to replace with traditional one. Energy efficiency and conservation is important need of an hour. Rising temperature of environment leads to unexpected environment contingency.

We could not leave the decision to market alone. We should try to develop more alternative option that reduce the energy consumption and save it for future generation. Both market and R & D segment of private sector & public sector should identify the alternative option of existing light consuming appliances & others.

For example syska LED bulb and tube light consume less energy and emit less heat to environment, for protection of environment from society point of view is also important and society should also go for alternative option , government should also try taking initiatives to produce these kind of bulb by providing subsidy for production and save energy from society point of view. these kind of light bulb should be available at least price possible so that society take further step to purchase these kind of bulb.
