Touring is oftentimes associated with mass tourism, big buses and while some people love it, some despise the notion of traveling in groups. Think of the variety of touring styles and tour companies we have looked at from the class sightseeing tours to small group adventure tours to anything in between. Answer and elaborate on the following:

1. Think critically of your notion of touring. What would make you book through a tour company? Would it be based on their philosophy? Type of trip? Type of itinerary or destination? What about a tour company and the way they talk to you as the consumer, would make you book with them? 2. What does ethics in touring mean to you? Would you consider going on trip that involves volunteering or give back programs?

Answer #1

Solution:

  1. According to my notion of touring, I would book through a touring company if the group with which I will be traveling include the people of my age group and with similar travel taste. My choosing the touring partner will only depend on the type of the tour and the itinerary that is involved with that particular trip. Obviously, as a consumer who is looking forward to touring experience, I will look forward to companies who are good in their way of communicating with the consumers because no consumer would like to spoil their tour because of rude customer executive. Hence this is the most important factor while choosing a touring partner.
  2. Ethics in touring would mean only the passion for travel of the touring company. A company who is in the touring business to only grab the share of money from the consumers pocket will be unethical. I would love to go on such tours which involve volunteering activities and the ones which inspire more participation from the consumers.
