What is the difference between participation by management and participation by cooperation and which strategy would you most likely employ in your workplace and why?
Participation by management, involves delegation of authority and inviting individuals to make a contribution in the decision making process, whereas participation by cooperation involves everyone coming up with the inputs and participating in the decision making process. It makes participation by cooperation to be more inclusive in nature and it tries to involve all the members of the group. In contrast to it, participation by management is more of a representative nature where few individuals get involved and they become to the part of the management over a period of time. But, it is not for everyone, hence benefits are limited.
I would like to employ participation by cooperation strategy, because it will help everyone get involved and give important ideas that can be the basis of innovation and creativity. Further, it will also help me get the feedback upon what is already being implemented. Hence, there is a bigger scope of making improvements when employees come up with their own views. Besides, it increases the engagement level, employees become more satisfied and turnover rates come down. As a result, employees are transformed into assets of competitive advantage.
