The most accurate statement about deception is that deception can be used if there are no reasonable alternative procedures and if it is justified by the value of the study. This is because in some instances deception becomes necessary to obtain accurate results. Researchers can use deception to an extent if there is no other alternative and if they can justify it's use.

The other options are incorrect because deception has been used in history of psychology for many researches like Milgram's study. Also there are no such prominent statistics on the use of deception. Lastly, APA has not banned it's use because as mentioned earlier it is considered in cases where there is no other alternative and when it is justifiable.
