Supply chain is an important function which supports operations manager to ensure proper inputs to the facility, greener production stages and products with greener outputs. We can see the examples of General motors, Tata motors and British petroleum like organizations which are gaining prominence across the world. GM has adopted strategic leadership in relation to gradually reduce its emission level of pollution, partners in supply chain which reduces emission to their respective organization , promoting the green initiatives and marketing’s, etc.

GM is reducing its cost of assembling in Chinese manufacturing with green supply chain and inventory handling practices. Apart from this, they have focused their corporate social agenda in A forestation, sustainable technological innovation etc. GM knows that without greener technologies they cannot retain their position in the automobile sector. For example, Eco sport is its one of the model which promotes its brand name as environmental conscious one.

If, we see its value chain activities then it can be realized that they make their infrastructure, operations, logistics, after sales services, HR policies, technology etc. align with more greener activities.
