Taylor, who is also known as father of scientific management had put forth the idea that workers does not naturally enjoy that job and hence, they need supervision, production should be break down in small pieces and workers should be paid for piece rate, e.g. hourly wages. He also said that workers get motivates only by pay or money nothing else can motivate better than money, hence if his statement is true, then it is logical to argue for use of variable pay and financial incentives to increase the effort and many organizations have adopted this and they have gained due to increase in productivity and sales.
