Read the following limited information regarding a project that
took place on the Gunflint Trail in 2011. About the Gunflint Trail:
The Gunflint Trail is a 57-mile paved roadway that begins in Grand
Marais, Minnesota and ends at Seagull Lake in the Boundary Waters
Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCA), near the US border with Ontario,
Canada. Originally a foot path for travelers from inland lakes to
Lake Superior, the trail was eventually widened into a road. It now
serves as a route to lodges, outfitters, hiking trails, homes for a
small number of people numbering in the hundreds, and the lakes and
rivers of the BWCA. The Ham Lake Fire was a forest fire that burned
in May 2007 on the western end of the Gunflint Trail. The fire
started on Ham Lake and quickly spread northwest to Round Lake and
then turned north and burned across the end of the Gunflint Trail.
By the time it was contained, the fire had burned 36,443 acres in
the United States and more than 75,000 acres in total, making it
the largest forest fire in the region in at least a century. As the
project manager for the event described below, complete the
milestone schedule.
Reforestation on the Gunflint
The Gunflint Green Up is a tree planting weekend May 2-4, 2919, where some 75,000 pine seedlings will be planted in public areas affected by the 2007 Ham Lake Fire. We know we can’t replace the trees and cabins that were lost last year, but we can look ahead and plant a pine forest for future generations.
The Green Up program begins on Friday with a special program; Saturday will be dedicated to tree plant. All volunteer tree planters will receive trees to plant, planting equipment, a box lunch, a Green Up t-shirt and in the evening a picnic dinner-dance will be held.

Solution:- As you know HamLake Fire was one of the biggest forest fire that started from Ham Lake and quickly spread northwest to Round Lake and then turned north and burned across the end of the Gunflint Trail. As a result, the fire spread across 75,000 acres. Since, nobody could save forest from such fire, hence an initiative called Gunflint Green Up was taken ahead, where 75,000 pine trees were to be planted over a weekend by volunteer tree planters.
Such similar activity will continue for the next weekend also, i.e- from 10th to 12th May 2019.
For lodging- Poplar Creek Guesthouse B&B has been set-aside for lodging for these two weekend and is offering a lodging at special rates for the volunteers since it’s a very noble and social cause.
