Answer #1

Gene flow is an important mechanism for transferring genetic diversity among population.Migrant can change their genetic diversity by modifying the allele frequencies.High rate flow of genetic results in homogeneity.Because of this reason gene flow has been thought to constrain speciation by combining the gene pool;thus preventing development of differences in genetic variation that would have led to full speciation. Gene flow in species that have low dispersal or mobility;that occur in fragmented habitats;long distance population;small population size etc.is less. Gene flow can be measured by using effective population size and the net migration rate per generation.Physical barriers to gene flow are usually natural includes mountain ranges, oceans, desert etc,man made barriers such as china wall, which hindered gene flow of native plant populations. Sympatric speciation happens when new species from the same ancestral species arise along the same range. It is a type of barrier which is not physical;but the reproductive barrier. Gene flow most probably used to assist species which are threatened with extinction. It can increase the threatened species breeding .Other methods are hybridization, introgression, and genetic swamping.this lead to homogenization.

The questions about mechanism of evolution 1. If you send a sample of your cheek cells to the company 23andMeTM, they will tell you your genetic ancestry. This is possible because certain alleles are associated with certain historic human populations (eg, GATTC in a particular location might be associated with Han Chinese ancestry). Most of the allele differences have no effect on phenotype. The table below lists four mechanisms of evolution. For each mechanism, circle and explain whether you think...

Can I get a summary of this article name "Evolution Is Happening Faster Than We Thought" By MENNO SCHILTHUIZEN? — A FRIEND recently invited me over to see the blackbird that had taken up residence in a potted plant on her balcony. Serenely incubating eggs in the inner city, this bird had little in common with its shy, reclusive ancestors that nested in Europe’s forests. Early in the 19th century, probably in Germany, blackbirds began settling in cities. By the...

Please read the article bellow and discuss the shift in the company's approach to genetic analysis. Please also discuss what you think about personal genomic companies' approaches to research. Feel free to compare 23andMe's polices on research with another company's. Did you think the FDA was right in prohibiting 23andMe from providing health information? These are some sample talking points to get you thinking about the ethics of genetic research in the context of Big Data. You don't have to...
