Answer #1

Dear student,

1a) when there is decreased ventilation , the arterial pCO2 increases which causes a decrease in blood pH . Then the chemoreceptors come into action and they influence the respiratory muscles through spinal cord motor neurons and causes an increased ventilation resulting in decreased pCO2 .

2) Restrictive lung disease affects the vital capacity. Restrictive diseases causes decrease in FEV1( forced expiratory volume in 1 second)   and FVC ( forced vital capacity) resulting in FEV1/ FVC ratio to a value of greater than 80% .

Hope this helps you ???
