Please dont repeat the answers

Paramount to the success of any organizational change is a leader’s ability to “know where the organization needs to go.” This is called the vision, and the ability to create the right vision can determine the success or failure of a change management strategy.

  • Think of an organization you are familiar with that is in need of change. If you were the change leader, what would be your vision statement for change?
  • Write your vision statement for the change you are striving for, detailing how you would improve upon that vision to ensure that it conforms to the principles and strengthen the value of the change vision.

The organization that is referred here is my former company. The company is a multinational publishing company headquartered in Europe. The organization uses the traditional methods for publishing hence it takes approximately 28 days to publish an article online. The company needs change in the publishing methodology. Though it is a cumbersome process, it is important in today’s fast paced business environment because the competitors are publishing faster than this company. As a change leader, my vision statement would be:

Our vision is to publish scholarly journals and articles quickly by providing easy open access and becoming the most admired company of innovation and creativity with a commitment to be being socially responsible.

In the vision statement, my primary focus is to publish the articles faster so that it provides easy accessibility via open access. By doing this, the company would be the most preferred admired company as it publishes the citation online as early as possible. This improves the Impact Factor (IF) and provides growth opportunities for the authors. Changing the company to this stage is quite difficult and it requires commitment, innovation and creativity for problem solving. The company would also have a commitment for corporate social responsibility.

The steps that I would take to strengthen the vision is to move journals with simple workflow for publishing to a technology called Article Based Publishing (ABP) wherein the article’s final citation with the journal name, issue volume and number will be published online as soon as the manuscript is accepted for publishing. This conforms to the principles and strengthens the value of the changed vision greatly as it reduces the publishing time drastically.
