Describe in words the nature of the relationship between each pair of variables. Give a verbal description of the way the variables are related (how are changes in one variable related to changes in the other). This should include the direction of the relationship (what does it mean if the correlation value is positive or negative) and the strength of the relationship (is there a strong or weak correlation).

Answer #1

There is a negative relationship between age and the chances of being hired. Negative correlation signifies an inverse relationship, that is, as oke variable increases the other decreases or vice versa. In tbis example, if the job applicants age is high, the chances of being hired is less or vice versa.

r=-. 82 which indicates that there is a strong relationship between the two variables. r values closer to 1 indicates a stronger correlation whereas a value closer to 0 indicates weak correlation

Now suppose the correlation coefficient for the relationship between a country’s adolescent birth rate (i.e., the rate at which teenage girls give birth) and life expectancy works out to be −0.71. What can we conclude from the value of that correlation coefficient? I. The association between the adolescent birth rate and life expectancy is strong and positive (as the adolescent birth rate increases, life expectancy increases as well). II. The association between the adolescent birth rate and life expectancy is...

Familiarity with these words was rated at a later time on a 7-point scale (with higher numbers indicating more familiarity). The participants' scores were: X Y 6 0.3 1.5 5 0.8 2 3 1.4 Based on these data...
