In supply chain initiatives, the principles of demand management are growing and the category management process is thus now more popular. The aim is to prevent outsourcing and to improve relationships between suppliers and retailers. It is used for balancing retailers ' product volume and diversity goals. Management of categories includes the collection and use of knowledge about the attitudes and choices of consumers.Control of classes together with calculation of marketing output ensures that ECR can be used by businesses to use their shared assets, lower stock rates for the supply chain, cross-dock and streamline consumer flows.

Continuous Replenishment

The use of continuous refills enables suppliers and distributors to manage their stocks efficiently. The product refilling process consists of 6 stages:

  • Cross docking
  • Reliable operations
  • Automated store ordering
  • Continuous replenishment
  • Synchronized production
  • Integrated suppliers

In order to establish successful turnaround strategies, development is needed with regard to joint inventory management, cross-docking, on-going reconstruction, effective logistic strategy, material flows and quick response.

Enabling Technologies

ECR is driven by enabled technologies. These include data analysis, data processing and data storage, which help us all understand customer requirements. ECR enables software exchanging throughout the Supply Chain to back up the Supply Chain before enterprise and forward prediction results. The ECR deployment features include:

  • Sharing information effectively
  • Automating order generation
  • Scanning technology such as bar-coding

In addition, information on demand, consumer and sales, cash flow, delivery and production status and WIP and finished goods ' stocks should be included in the data.
