Answer #1

Nanotechnology, as Kurzweil suggests, the invention or introduction of which is inevitable, bringing the singularity near. Kurzweil argues that no matter how the human DNA is tuned, but manipulating matter or mechanics at an atomic level is way more effective, and thereby the reasons he present are listed as:

  • Wide range of application: These include sunscreens, clothing, paints, cars, and more. And of course, the digital revolution has continued thanks to new methods allowing us to make chips with nanoscale features.
  • Collaboration of Man and Machine: Enhance the intellect of human mind, as Kurzweil predicts by the end of 2030-40, machines having nanoscale sizes may be introduced to the neocortex of the human body, thereby connecting all information over to a cloud. This will led to storage of information over a prolonged time period, which may enhance the human wisdom and intellect at an early age. This will further increase a persons individuality, as the human mind would have more brain power to apply to literature and music, creating more diverse forms than we did previously.
  • Cure the Incurable: Kurzweil predicts that the human life expectancy will shoot up post introduction of nanoparticles in the human body. He further argues that the current diseases in the form of cancer, or a disease as deadly as Alzheimers, or AIDs can be sufficiently cured by injecting nanobots in our bloodstream. Nanobots may be configured to treat the infected body parts, or even clone them to increase functionality.
  • Biodegradability of Nanoparticles: Various nanoparticles used in applications may also increase the biodegradation rate of plastics, or products which may have tendency to last eternity.

However, Kurzweil is famous for his predictions, as in the 2000s he predicted in the coming 10-15 years computing will be processed on a smaller device, and here we are, landed exactly in the era of smart phones and smart watches just as predicted. However, nanotech is a double edged sword, For example: If nanoscale particles such as nano bots are introduced to neocortex, that will be posing a challenge to hack the systems, and putting private information on public display, thereby putting data protection at risk. Any attempt to bypass the natural laws may further may have negative consequences, which is undesirable. Therefore, the creators and developers much create product effectively and under the laws of nature,
