1. Padding is the space between the content and the border. It is applied inside of the element. It is the extra space inside the control.
whereas margin defines the space outside the element. It is a extra space around the control. It is applied outside of the element.

2. HTML 5 errors dont tend to show up so easily in developer tools, because the browser will try to correct badly performed markup automatically.

3. The <ellipse> element is an svg shape which is used to create ellipses based on x and y radius and their coordinates.
The <circle> SVG is also svg shape will draw circle based on the center point and its radius. uppercase means absolute coordinates whereas lowercase means relative coordinates.

4. It is important to indicate the parts of the diagram. It gives the clear picture of the diagram there itself. Unlike explaining the diagram in some other area it is better to explain there itself by using <desc>
