What will be the qualitative change in the average end-to-end distance of DNA (no applied force) if the temperature increases from 25 to 50˚ C (for simplicity assume the DNA can be described by the freely-jointed chain mode)?

Answer #1

By increasing the temperature of DNA, hydrogen bonding between between base pairs starts breaking due to which DNA starts expanding.

Thus the average end to end distance of DNA starts increasing with the increase of temperature.
