Answer #1

ANSWER:

A) Real gdp per capita = Real gdp / population = 14,000,000,000,000 / 200,000,000 = 70,000

so the real gdp per capita is $70,000

B) Real gdp 10 years later = 14,000,000,000,000 * 3 = 42,000,000,000,000

population after 10 years = 200,000,000 * 2 = 400,000,000

Real gdp per capita = Real gdp 10 years later / population after 10 years = 42,000,000,000,000 / 400,000,000 = 105,000

so the real gdp per capita is $105,000

Reference equation: Real GDP per capita growth rate = Nominal GDP per capita growth rate-inflation rate-Population growth rate This equation is an approximation of the exact rate of growth of GDP per capita, and so it results in some errors when caloulating this rate. However, the smplified equation is both easy to use and results in small error terms when inflation, nominal GDP growth, and population growth are low, and so it is a useful approximation.
