Explain in one page on the motivation(s) of Martin Luther in reforming the church.
Answer: Martin Luther king had some major differences with the Catholic Church and he wanted a full reform in the Church. He considered that the practices like selling of indulgences for obsolesce of sins by the church were corrupt practices. He preached that the bible is the only central authority for the Christians and that the salvation can be achieved through faith rather than deeds. These concepts were not new and existed from before but it was Martin Luther king who propagated these concepts and enabled them to reach the height of popularity and acceptance. There were several reasons that why Martin Luther king started to propagate these principles and wanted to reform the Church. The first reason was that with the rise in the ideals of secularism and humanism, people started to question the Church and its practices. This resulted in the start of criticism of the Church.
Some of the Church members had become corrupt and a reform movement was required. Many rulers and governments started to view Pope and Church as their rivals and started to challenge the authority of the Church. People in general were becoming opposed to the wealth that the Church amassed. These entire factors made Luther king who was in his early years a monk to consider that a reform movement was required and the Church needs to be reformed. He agreed with the other scholars that a reform movement should start to improve the situation of the Church. These entire factors made Luther king to become committed to the ideals that salvation can only be achieved by faith and the divine grace. He therefore started a reform movement so that all these issues faced by the Church may get resolved.
