Different items in a flex box can have different growth rates.It takes a unit-less value which is actually a proportion and tells how much space a particular item should take from the total available space .

Suppose there are four items in a flex box and all the children have flex-grow set to 1 except second one then it means that second child would take the twice as much as space as others
