ANSWER : 2 Cr 3+ (aq) + 3 CO 32- (aq) Cr2(CO3)3 (s)

Molecular equation : 2 CrI3 (aq) + 3 Na2CO3 (aq) Cr2(CO3)3 (s) + 6 NaI (aq)

CrI3 , Na2CO3 and NaI are soluble in water. They dissociates into ions when dissolved in water.

CrI3 (aq) Cr 3+ (aq) + 3 I- (aq)

Na2CO3 (aq) 2 Na + (aq) + CO 32- (aq)

NaI (aq) Na + (aq) + I- (aq)

Hence, we can write complete ionic equation as,

2 Cr 3+ (aq) + 6 I- (aq) + 6 Na + (aq) + 3 CO 32- (aq) Cr2(CO3)3 (s) + 6 Na + (aq) + 6 I- (aq)

In above equation, I- and Na + are present on both sides and are called spectator ions. On cancelling these ions , we get net ionic equation as

2 Cr 3+ (aq) + 3 CO 32- (aq) Cr2(CO3)3 (s)
