Given,

X = 0.257 mol

Y = 1.028 mol

Z = 1.799 mol

Simplest Formula or Empirical Formula = ?

moles of Z in sample is moles of X is 0.648 mol = ?

Divide each by the smallest among them,

For X = 0.257 mol / 0.257 mol = 1

For Y = 1.028 mol / 0.257 mol = 4

For Z = 1.799 mol / 0.257 mol = 7

So, Simplest Formula = X1Y4Z7 [ANSWER]

Now,

moles of Z is 7 times the moles of X in the sample

So, when X = 0.648 mol

Z = 7 * 0.648 mol

Z = 4.536 mol [ANSWER]
